Do you want your website visitors to be able to share your content on Snapchat? Then you need the Snapchat Share Button: it lets users quickly and easily share your content with their friends on Snapchat.

Snapchat is a hugely popular app with over 265 million daily active users in the world. The Snapchat Share Button lets users either attach a URL to a Snap (a photo or video) or send the URL in a chat to a friend or group of friends.

If you aren’t familiar with Snapchat, here’s what you need to know:

Snapchat is a multimedia messaging app, where pictures and messages are usually only available for a short time. They can be set to vanish as soon as they’re viewed. Images and videos shared on the user’s Snapchat story will be visible for 24 hours by default.

Snapchat is particularly popular with teenagers and people in their early 20s who make up Generation Z. It’s currently used by 59% of all U.S. internet users aged 13 to 24. So if that’s your target demographic, adding a Snapchat share button to your site could see your traffic skyrocket. 

More women than men use Snapchat. Around 58% of users are female. Snapchat is most popular in the US, India, and France. 

Snapchat has lots of popular, fun features. For instance, users can add lenses (filters or other effects) to their photos and videos. Snapchat frequently changes the lenses available, though popular ones recur, and users can pay $0.99 for permanent access to a lens.

Snapchat is a mobile-only app: there’s no desktop or browser version. Don’t worry, though, desktop users won’t see an error message. Instead, if they click on your Snapchat Share Button, they’ll be prompted to download the mobile app.

When mobile users click the button, their Snapchat app will open so they can instantly share the link to your content.

There are lots of different ways to place the Snapchat Share Button on your website. Remember, it needs to be visible and easily accessible to mobile users. You could place the button inline at the top or bottom of your content, or you could use sticky buttons that stay along the top or bottom of the user’s screen.

What if you want to share a webpage that doesn’t have a Snapchat Share Button? You can add a link on Snapchat without clicking on a Share button, it just takes a little longer.

Simply create a photo or video on Snapchat as normal, then look for the paperclip icon on the right-hand side of your screen. Click this icon and you can paste or type in a URL. You’ll also see a list of previously copied links to choose from. You can find more guidance and tips here.
