How to Install ShareThis Tools on Framer

Follow the steps below to install ShareThis tools in your Framer website: add your unique ShareThis installation script to your site’s section, then (for Inline tools) add the placement tag where you want the buttons to appear.

You will need:

  • Create an account on the ShareThis Platform and get your unique installation script and enable tools.
  • Permission in Framer to edit Project Settings → Custom Code and publish changes.

Adding the installation (script) code

  1. Log in or Sign up to the ShareThis Platform.
  2. Add your domain.
  3. Copy your unique ShareThis installation script.
  4. You can find it in Step 1 of any App page (Inline Share Buttons, Sticky Share Buttons, Follow Buttons, etc.).
  5. Or you can find the same script in Settings → Setup inside the Platform.
  6. In Framer, open Project Settings.
  7. Select the Custom Code tab.
  8. Click Add Script (or the + icon if you already have scripts).
  9. Paste your ShareThis installation script in the <head>.
  10. Apply the script to all pages (or select specific pages if you only want ShareThis on certain pages).
  11. Save, then publish your site.
  12. Back in the ShareThis Platform, open the tool you want to use and click Enable App to activate it on your site.
  13. (Optional but recommended) Customize your app (networks, colors, size, alignment, share counts, etc.).

Adding Inline ShareThis Tools

Inline tools require an extra snippet of code (a placement tag) so you can control exactly where the buttons appear on your page. Examples of Inline tools include Inline Share Buttons, Follow Buttons, and Reaction Buttons.

  2. In the ShareThis Platform, open the Inline tool you want to use.
  3. Copy the placement code shown in “Step 3: Add the Placement Tag to Your Site” (it will look similar to the example below).
  4. In Framer, go to the page where you want the buttons to appear.
  5. Add an Embed component (Insert → search for “Embed” → drag it onto the canvas).
  6. In the Embed component’s HTML section, paste the placement code.
  7. Publish your site.

Important: Don’t use Framer’s Code Block component for ShareThis placement code. Code Blocks are meant to display code (documentation/presentation), not to render it as a live HTML element on the page. Use Embed instead.

Verify your installation

Once your ShareThis script is installed correctly and the app is enabled in the ShareThis Platform, your tools should appear and work on your published site.
